The Ready Biodegradability of FAT 41030/A was performed under aerobic static exposure conditions using the Manometric Respirometry Test and used as the key study. The result showed the biodegradation of test item after 28 days was 0 % and the biodegradation of reference item after 14 days was 81 %. In the toxicity control no inhibitory effect was observed. Thus, the test item FAT 41030/A was not readily biodegradable after 28 days of incubation.

This finding was supported by a biodegradability test of the test material FAT 41'030/ A which was carried out under the conditions prescribed in Chemical Substances Control law. As a result, the percentage degradation values of the triplicate "test material degradation" systems based on biological oxygen demand were all 1 % (mean: 1 %). And the percentage degradation of test material FAT 41'030/ A was 0 % as mean of the triplicate system based on HPLC analysis. It was thus considered that the test material FAT 41'030/A is not biodegradable.

In conclusion, FAT 41'030/A and also its structural analogue, FAT 41045, are not biodegradable. Both substances are very similar in their chemical structure and, as demonstrated, in a number of physicochemical properties. Therefore, these studies with FAT 41'030/A are used for read-across thus avoiding duplicate tests.
