Description of key information

The acute oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity of 3-chloropropene, a structural analog to AC Light Ends was evaluated by study protocols similar to current O.E.C.D. Testing Guidelines.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
275 mg/kg bw

Acute toxicity: via inhalation route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Value:
3 083 mg/m³ air

Acute toxicity: via dermal route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
2 070 mg/kg bw

Additional information

The acute oral LD50 of 3 -chloropropene in several rat strains ranged from 275 to 460 mg/Kg of body weight suggesting that 3 -chloropropene is Harmful by the oral route of exposure. The acute dermal LD50 of 3 -chloropropene in rabbits was 2070 mg/Kg of body weight. The 6 hr acute inhalation LC50 of 3 -chloropropene was > 1000 (3083 mg/m3) to < 2000 ppm (6166 mg/m3). These findings are believed to be similar for AC Light Ends.

Justification for classification or non-classification

With an acute oral toxicity LD50 for AC Light Ends in the range of 275 to 460 mg/Kg of body weight Classification and Labeling for acute oral exposure is necessary.
