Some of the test item was converted into methacrylic acid and 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8- tridecafluorooctan-l-ol under the test conditions of this study. Methacrylic acid seemed to be biodegraded by microorganisms except one transferred to the CO2 absorbent, whereas the rest of the test item and 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafiuorooctan-l-ol were not biodegraded by microorganisms and remained.

Executive summary:

A 28 day biodegradation by microorganisms study was conducted on the test substance. Degradation was determined by BOD (oxygen consumption measuring apparatus) and by test substance analysis (gas chromatography, GC). The average values for percent degradation were 2% and 14% for BOD and GC, respectively. These values did not pass the 10-day or 14-day window, therefore the test substance is not readily biodegradable.
