Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The surface tension of an aqueous solution of Pivacyclene (90% saturated) at 20 °C is 60.72 mN/m (Harkins - Jordan corrected value). Thus, Pivacyclene is not considered to be surface active.
Executive summary:

In an OECD guideline study (TG 115, ring method), conducted to GLP, the surface tension of a solution of Pivacyclene ( ~90% of the saturation concentration) at 20 °C was determined to be 60.72 mN/m (Harkins - Jordan corrected value). Therefore, Pivacyclene was not considered to be surface active (surface tension < 60 mN/m).

The apparatus was calibrated with double-distilled water; this gave a correction factor of 1.0099 to be applied to the test results. A sample from the water solubility test was diluted to 90% with double-distilled water.

The measured surface tension for a 90% saturated solution of pivacyclene in double-distilled water was 61.15 mN/m at 20 °C. With the application of the correction for the calibration factor (F), the surface tesnion was 61.72 mN/m at 20 °C.

With application of the Harkins Jordan correction factor, the surface tension was 60.72 mN/m.
