Stability

Bis trifluoromethanesulfonimide lithium (TFSILi) is hydrolytically stable (Groult, 2002c; Howes, 1993). Studies on direct phototransformation in water are not available but is is assumed that the substance is not degraded by direct photolysis due to its chemical structure. It is concluded, therefore, that abiotic processes do not contribute significantly to the depletion of the substance in the aquatic environment.

Biodegradation

Bis trifluoromethanesulfonimide lithium is not readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions (Clarke, 2002; Yuko Shimogawa, 1993). No simulation tests are available. A conclusion whether TFSILi is degraded in natural water systems is not possible based on the available data.

Bioaccumulation

BCF values in the range of <4 to - < 41 were measured for Bis trifluoromethanesulfonimide lithium. The substance does not fulfil the bioaccumulation trigger value of BCF > 2000 L/kg as

given in ECHA Guidance, Chapter R.11, and does not fulfil the B- or vB-criterion.

Transport and distribution

In an OECD 106 test the highest Koc value observed for Bis trifluoromethanesulfonimide lithium in soil was 14.9 L/kg (Log Koc = 1.17). The results show that TFSILi has low binding potential to

soil and is considered as a mobile organic compound.
