Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

EC50 or LC50 for freshwater sediment:
826 mg/kg sediment dw

Additional information

An acute test on midge larvae (Chironomus tentans) was performed by Call et al. (2001) following the method recommended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA1600lR-941024). Three different netural sediments were used with a different content of total organic carbon each. After 10 days of exposure, a LC50 for the endpoint mortality of 826 mg/kg sediment dw was measured for the low TOC sediment whereas for the medium and high TOC sediments LC50 values were found to be higher (1664 mg/kg sediment dw and 4730 mg/kg sediment dw, respectively). For derivation of PNEC the lowest LC50 found was applied as well as the equilibrium partitioning method. As the test is investigating sahort-term effects only, the most stringent value of the two different PNEC-derivation methods is apllied for further risk assessment.
