Time of burning [s]

Comments

Test-1

1440*

*Sample ignited immediately but burned only the upper edge of the track. Sample did not burn completely.

Time of applying the flame of burner: 30, 60, 120 s.

Result: NEGATIVE

Test-2

1560*

Test-3

1380*

Since the results are negative, it is not necessary to go to the next stage of determination.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Conclusions:
The substance is not highly flammable according to EU Method A.10.
Executive summary:

The study was performed in accordance with EU Method A.10 and GLP standards. In the preliminary test, the propagation by burning with flame or smouldering was determined. The sample ignited immediately but burned only the upper edge of the track. The sample did not burned completely after applying the flame at 30, 60 and 120 seconds. Since the results were negative, the substance was determined to be not highly flammable.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

Flammability: Key study. EU Method A.10. GLP study. The substance is not highly flammable.
Flammability in contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available): Based on experience, the substance is not regarded as flammable in contact with water.
Pyrophoricity: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary / other information available): Based on experience, the substance is regarded as not pyrophoric.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammability

Key study: The study was performed in accordance with EU Method A.10 and GLP standards.

Flammability in contact with water

Data waiving (other justification): The practical experience of the sponsor and the test facility (e.g. water solubility study, ecotoxicity tests) shows that no gases are developed, when the test substance is in contact with water. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being flammable in contact with water.

Pyrophoricity

Data waiving (other justification): The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facility, e.g. when handling small amounts of the test substance repeatedly in air during testing. Moreover, according to the auto-ignition study on test item, the substance does not ignite in air at ca. 20 °C and even not at temperatures up to 400 °C. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being pyrophoric.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data, the substance is not classified for flammability according to CLP Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008.
