Results and discussion

RS-Freetext:
After 24 h both sets of plants showed phytotoxic symptoms.
Dibutylurea was detected in extracts of all treated plants.
Whether the plant phytotoxicity was due to n-butyl
isocyanate or its hydrolysis products dibutylurea or
butylamine was not analyzed. 
The following observations were made:
FERN: 
- After 24 h the ferns showed brown spots on the leaves 
- After 72 h they were totally brown and died off 
CUCUMBER: 
- After 24 h spotted browning of the cotyledons followed by
a browning of the guttation water 
- By 72 h browning to the mature leaves had increased but
had not covered the entire leaves 
- After 72 h the mature leaves exhibited intravenal
yellowing and a yellowing around the edges
