Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

To assess the biodegradation of the registered substance, one valid study is available.

This biodegradation study (FIRMENICH, 2014) was assessed as the key study and was performed on the registered substance according to the OECD Guideline 310 in compliance with GLP. In this ready biodegradability test, the registered substance at a concentration of 25.71 mg/L (corresponding to 19.98 mg C/L) was exposed to activated sewage sludge micro-organisms with culture medium in sealed culture vessels in diffused light at 23 +/- 2°C for 28 days. The degradation of the test substance was assessed by the determination of carbon dioxide produced on Days 0, 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28. Control solutions with inoculum and the standard material, sodium benzoate, together with a toxicity control were used for validation purposes. All validity criteria were fulfilled and this study is considered valid without restriction. According to the results of this study, the test substance attained 76% degradation after 28 days and satisfied the 10 -day window validation criterion. Therefore, the registered substance can be considered to be readily biodegradable under the test conditions.
