Description of key information

The surface tension of a 1 g/L aqueous solution of 4-Methyl-4-phenylpentan-2-ol was determined to be 44.12 mN/m (standard deviation ± 0.02) at 20 ºC. As the surface tension is < 60 mN/m, the test item is classified as a surface-active substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:

Additional information

The surface tension was determined using the harmonised ring method according to OECD guideline 115 (Thieu-Simchen 2015). The study is considered reliable and relevant for use for this endpoint.
