Sorbitan C16-18 (even numbered) fatty acid esters, ethoxylated (1-6.5 moles ethoxylated) is considered to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.Experimental data on the biodegradability of the substance are not available. The assumption is based on a read across to the source substancessorbitan stearate (CAS 1338-41-6)andsorbitan monolaurate, ethoxylated (CAS 9005-64-5). The substance is thus expected to be rapidly degraded by microorganisms under environmental conditions.
