Description of key information

Based on the geometric mean measured concentrations of the test item 3,7,11-trimethyldodecyn-3-ol, the 72 hour-EC50 for algae was 0.314 mg/L and EC10 was 1.41 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0.314 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.141 mg/L

Additional information

A GLP study according to OECD 201 (BASF 2016; 60E0025/05X056) was conducted with 3,7,11-trimethyldodecyn-3-ol. The test substance was found to inhibit the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata over the period of 72 hours. The EC50-value for inhibition of specific growth rate (ErC50) after 72 hours was 0.314 mg test item/L, the EC20- and EC10-values were determined to be 0.184 and 0.141 mg test item/L (geometric mean measured concentrations of the test item).
