Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Acid Red 357 (AR357) is a red organic powder at 1013 hPa and 20 °C.

Between 25-130 °C release of imbibition water/solvent was observed, followed by decomposition of the product between 290 -430 °C (onset at 326.7 °C; enthalpy = 1931.4 J/g); therefore both melting and boiling points were not recorded .

The particle size distribution of the AR357 was analyzed using the Mastersizer 2000 tool and the MMD resulted 24.249 µm.

AR357 is very soluble in water (418.11 g/l a 20 °C and pH 6.84) and Pow value was calculated as 0.0328 (average log Pow: -1.4891), showing a greater affinity with the water phase, than the octanol phase. The relative density of the substance, analyzed by means of pycnometer method, is 1.564 at 20 °C.

Since it is a solid, properties like vapour pressure, surface tension and flash point can be neglected.

AR357 is not expected to be auto-flammable, flammable, explosive and it is deemed to be potentially not oxidising based on the chemical structure, the oxygen balance values and the known experience in the handling and use of substances.
