Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

One key study in accordance with GLP and OECD 201 (Alga, Growth Inhibition Test).

The effect of the test item on the growth of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was  investigated over a 72-Hour period and based on the time-weighted mean measured test concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
51 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
15 mg/L

Additional information

Chemical analysis of the test preparations at 0 hours showed measured test concentrations to range from 5.93 to 97.0 mg/L. Given that analysis of the test preparations taken from the range- finding test showed a decline in measured concentration occurred over the 72-Hour test period, it was considered likely that the test item was unstable under test conditions. It was therefore considered appropriate to prepare additional test samples for analysis at 24 and 48 hours in order to better define the rate of decline in measured concentration. Analysis of these additional test preparations showed a decline in measured concentration in the range of 3.49 to 90.4 mg/L at 24 hours and 1.22 to 80.4 mg/L at 48 hours. A further decline in the range of 0.0762 to 24.1 mg/L was observed at 72 hours.

Given this decline in measured test concentrations it was considered justifiable to base the results on the time-weighted mean measured test concentrations in order to give a "worst case" analysis of the data.

Exposure of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata to the test item gave the following results based on the time-weighted mean measured test concentrations:
