Description of key information

The influence of silatrizole on the growth of the green algal species Scenedesmus subspicatus CHODAT was investigated in a GLP-compliant 72-hour limit test conducted in accordance with EU Method C.3 and OECD Guideline 201. The only concentration tested was the undiluted filtrate of a supersaturated stock suspension prepared at a nominal loading rate of 100 mg test substance/l. Silatrizole had clearly no inhibitory effect on the growth of Scenedesmus subspicatus during the exposure period of 72 hours. Therefore, the 72-hour NOEC was determined to be at least 0.57 mg test substance/l (as the mean measured test substance concentration in the undiluted filtrate). The 72-hour LOEC, respectively the 72-hour EC50, for the algal biomass b and the growth rate µ could not be quantified due to the absence of toxicity up to the highest tested concentration. However, these parameters were clearly higher than 0.57 mg test substance/l.
