Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water or sediment simulation testing is not required due to the predicted ready biodegradability of the substance and the low potential for adsorption to sediment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Isobutyl-R-lactate is predicted to be readily biodegradable. According to Annex IX, column 2, of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 a study on "simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water or sediment simulation testing" does not have to be conducted if "the substance is readily biodegradable". Furthermore, it is concluded that the test item does not have a high potential for adsorption to sediment. According to Annex IX columns 1 and 2 of the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, sediment simulation testing is therefore not required.
