Acid Brown 348 is a brown organic powder.

The DSC analysis showed release of water between 80 -130 °C followed by substance decomposition between 303 - 415°C. The decomposition onset is 334.0°C with an enthalpy energy equal to 161.8 J/g

The particle size distribution of Acid Brown 348 was analyzed using the Mastersizer 2000 tool and the D50 resulted 62.461 µm (REACH&Colours Kft, 2013).

Acid Brown 348 is a soluble substance in water (36.97 g/l at 20 °C) and logPow was calculated as -1.2593, showing a greater affinity with the water phase, than the octanol phase (REACH&Colours Kft, 2013).

The relative density of the substance, analyzed by means of pycnometer method, is 1.514 at 20 °C (REACH&Colours Kft, 2013).

Acid Brown 348 is not flammable and it is not expected to be auto-flammable; the substance does not meet the criteria to be considered as explosive and it is deemed to be potentially not oxidising based on the chemical structure, the oxygen balance values and the known experience in the handling and use of substances.
