Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Under the conditions of the test, the test substance has no effects on Daphnia at the water solubility limit (48h-EL50 > 100 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The short-term toxicity of the test substance to Daphnia magna was studied under semi-static conditions according to OECD 202 testing guideline. Daphnids were exposed to an aqueous preparation with an initial nominal concentration of 100 mg/L. The dispersion was prepared daily by adding the test substance to Elendt M4 medium; to aid dissolution acetone and ultrasound treatments were employed followed by a prolonged stirring. Then, the preparation was left to stand 24 h and passed trhough a sieve (20 µm) to remove undissolved test substance. The control and solvent control were prepared using the same medium.

No immobilization and sublethal effects were observed during the experiment. The 48h-EL50 was found to be higher than 100 mg/L.

Based on the results of this study, the test substance is not considered as harmful to Daphnids at its water solubility limit.

This study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirements for an acute toxicity study with freshwater invertebrates.
