Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

OECD Guideline 209, GLP, key study, validity 1:
3h-NOEL (activated sludge) = 1000 mg/L;
3h-EL50 (activated sludge) >= 1000 mg/L;
No toxic effect observed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

One valid key study is available to assess the toxicity of the registered substance to microorganisms.

In this study, the effect of registered substance on the respiration rate of activated sludge was investigated after a contact time of 3 hours, according to OECD Guideline 209 with GLP statement. Following a combined limit/range-finding test, the final test was performed with five loading rates: 10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg/L. Five replicates per loading rate and six replicates for an untreated control group were tested. No statistically significant inhibition of the respiration rate of the sludge was recorded at or below a loading rate of 1000 mg/L. The batch of activated sludge was tested for sensitivity with the reference substance 3,5-dichlorophenol, and showed normal sensitivity.

In conclusion, test substance was not toxic to waste water bacteria (activated sludge) at or below a loading rate of 1000 mg/L (NOEL). The EL50 was beyond the loading rate tested (>1000 mg/L).
