Most measured water concentrations of FC-72 were approximately 0.325 ng/mL, which was below the measured water solubility of 84.1 ng/mL (11% RSD). These water levels indicate that the FC-72 dosing gas did not produce a saturated system at equilibrium.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Under the conditions used for this study, the HLC for FC-72 was measured to be 42000 (5.6% RSD) at 22.9 °C.
Executive summary:
The Henry's Law constant of FC-72 was determined by the ratio of gas-phase concentration over aqueous-phase concentration. Duplicate test vessels were filled with water and dosed with FC-72 gas at three headspace:water (70%, 50% and 30%) ratios. The vials were incubated for 3, 4, and 5 days at ambient temperature of 22.3 – 23.7 °C. Both the headspace and the water phase for each vial were sampled and analyzed in duplicates using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The average measured gas phase and water phase concentrations were used to calculate Henry's Law constant for FC-72 for each test vessel. Under the conditions of this study (average temperature of 22.9°C), overall average HLC (unitless) for FC-72 was 42000 (%RSD = 5.6), the overall average log HLC was 4.6 (% RSD = 0.54). The HLC (unitless) of 42000 can be converted to a HLC of 1021 atm.m^3/mol.

This study was conducted under GLP compliance with accepted method. It is considered reliable without restrictions.
