Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a static growth inhibition test performed under GLP conditions, the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed over 72 hours to the test substance. The ErC50 based on the growth rate was determined to be 15.3 mg/L and the ErC10 based also on the growth rate was determined to be 11.5 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
15.3 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
11.5 mg/L

Additional information

In a static growth inhibition test, the fresh algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed over 72 hours to the test substance according to OECD 201 (2011) under GLP conditions. Exponentially growing algal cells were exposed for a period of 72 hours to a range of concentrations, nominally 0 (control), 2.048, 5.12, 12.8, 32 and 80 mg/L of the test substance dissolved in water. The concentrations of the test substance were measured. The recovery rates of the test substance at the start of the test were in the range of 98 - 103 % of the nominal concentrations. The measured concentrations at 0 hours were 2.09, 5.28, 12.7, 31.6 and 78.4 mg/L. At test end the test item concentrations were in the range of 90 - 101 % of the nominal values of all concentrations. The measured concentrations at 72 hours were 2.07, 4.96, 11.5, 29.8 and 73.8 mg/L. The ErC50 based on growth rate was determined to be 15.3 mg/L and the ErC10 was determined to be 11.5 mg/L.
