Additional information

Laurel leaf oil is a clear, slightly viscous liquid at ambient temperature, with colour varying from pale yellow to yellow; it doesn't undergo freezing down to -20°C, and distillates between ca 150 and 185°C. It is expected to float over water, because of its low relative density (0.91), and slight to moderate solubility of its components (5 to 3500 mg/L). The major components exhibit only low volatility (up to ca 370 Pa) but potential for bioaccumulation (log K > 4). Surface-active properties are anticipated; therefore relevance of water solubility and log K should raise concerns.

Based on its flash point of ca 50°C, Laurel leaf oil will be classified as a Flammable liquid (cat.3, according to CLP criteria).

It is not regarded as hazardous with regard to other physical hazard classes (explosivity, self-reactive nor oxidising properties).

It should be noted that, as a Natural Complex Substance, the above properties of Laurel leaf oil may exhibit some variations.
