Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

No sensitisation was observed in the "Skin irritation and capacity for allergic sensitization determined by the open epicutaneous test (OET)" on guinea pigs at 3, 10, 30 or 100%. The 4 reaction out of 74 subjects tested by Epstein (1981 -1985) were all compromised by irritation affects. In the absence of irritation, no sensitisation affects were observed. Therefore it is concluded that the 4 subject positive reactions were not true sensitisation affects.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Negative guinea pig OET and questionable positive reactions in 4 out of 74 subjects that were compromised by irritiation affects.

Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
Guinea pig OET and Human data.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Negative guinea pig OET and questionable positive reactions in 4 out of 74 subjects that were compromised by irritiation affects.

No positives reactions in the absence of irritation.
