Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
9 - 23 Jan 2014
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: UN RTDG, Manual of Test Criteria, test N1 sub-section 33.2.1.4
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Landesamt Umwelt, Wasserwirtschaft und Gewerbeaufsicht, Mainz, Germany
Key result
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
or specified in description of method
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Safety Pre-Test

First melting to a reddish liquid was observed, which became black under boiling and finally burnt completely without any residue. The test item showed no signs of flammability.

Preliminary Screening Test

During heating melting to a brown liquid was observed, which shortly boiled and became black. The whole process was accompanied by a big yellow flame, but the test item did not burn without source of ignition. Only the molten test item burned, but no propagation of the flame was observed.

Discussion

No propagation of the flame was observed throughout the course of the test.

The test item N-[4-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)thiazol-2-yl]isobutyramideshould be classified as non-flammable solid.

No observations were made which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
NDHPTMPA not flammable under test conditions
Executive summary:

NDHPTMPA not flammable under test conditions

Description of key information

In a guideline study flamability was tested. No flamability was determined.

From water solubility test it is known that substance does not emit flammable gas in contact with water.

Substance is considered not pyrophoric based on experience from manufacturing.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Substance was not classified as flammable based on a guideline study.
