Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Any avian toxicity is likely to result from the zirconium moiety. Soluble salts such as zirconium dichloride oxide are not classified for the environment and do not result in adverse effects in ecotoxicity tests with aquatic and terrestrial organisms. Therefore, no PNECs were derived and no chemical safety assessment (for the environment) was performed. Consequently there is currently no reason that triggers the performance of a toxicity study in birds. Furthermore, as the bioaccumulation potential of zirconium is very low, in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex X, members higher in the food chain are considered not relevant for further examination.
