Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Biodegradation was assessed in a test according to OECD guideline 301F using domestic activated sludge as inoculum (BASF 1992, report no. 91/1784/26/1). After 28 days >80% of the substance was degraded related to the oxygen consumption.

This result is supported by a study according to EPA OTS 796.3260 (GAF Chemical Corporation, 1987; report no. 87 -0803 -11). This method is the modified Sturm test. The inoculum was activated sludge which was acclimated to the test material. The substance was degraded to 82% after 28 d of exposure.

It can be concluded that NOP is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
