Description of key information

The surface tension of the substance was determined to be 30.8 mN/m at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
30.8
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1 000

Additional information

Two GLP studies were conducted.

BASF study determined the surface tension in accordance with the EU Method A.5 (surface tension) using the ring method to be 30.8 mN/m at 20 °C and a concentration of 1g/l.

International Specialty Products Inc. study  determined the surface tension in also accordance with the EU Method A.5 (surface tension) using the ring method to be approx. 31.2 mN/m at 20 °C and 90% saturated concentration.

Both values are in the same range. The value from the BASF GLP study was chosen as key value for the surface tension.
