Additional information

The adsorption-desorption potential on soil has been studied using the High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method according to the OECD 121 guideline. During this experiment the test material did not eluate from the column. It was then concluded that the HPLC method was not appropriate to this substance.

Then another result of the adsorption-desorption test with tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulphate, a salt which is expected to behave similarly to the corresponding chloride salt showed that the adsorption phenomena is not expected to be important on soil or sediment. A median adsorption Koc of 153 was calculated which classifies the substance as medium to highly mobile in soil and sediment.

Finally in accordance with the equation for non hydrophobic substances proposed in EUSES 2.1 as well as the ECHA guidance R7A a Koc value was estimated. This estimated value confirmed previous assumptions of low adsorption on soil and sediment with a Koc value of 0.00264 predicted. This latest value is used in the risk assessment.
