In the study published by Wink, 1998 the toxicity of quinidine to bees was determined. In this study it is shown that, the LD50 tested on Apis mellifera is 0.02% (200 mg/kg). In the publications of Wink, 1992 and 1998 the inhibition of germination as well as root and hypocotyl growth for Lepidium sativum and Lactuca sativa was determined. At a concentration of 0.01% (0.1 g/kg soil) quinidine showed inhibition of germination. Furthermore, the growth of roots and hypocotyls was affected at concentrations of 0.01% (0.1 g/kg soil) and 0.1% (1 g/kg soil), respectively. In conclusion, quinidine has phytotoxic effects.
