PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The substance is not readily biodegradable in a Manometric Respirometry Test according to OECD 301F. Hydrolysis studies of the substance indicate that test item is stable at pH 4, but hydrolyses at pH 7 and 9. Hydrolysis was fastest at pH 9 and 50°C, and slowest at pH 7 and 15°C. The substance has a half-life of 70.8 days at pH 7 and 25 °C. At pH 7 and 15°C, the half-life of the substance is 243 days. Hydrolysis products have not been determined. Therefore the substance fulfils the criteria of persistent (P).

Based on the results of Combined Repeated Dose Toxicity Study/Reproduction/Developmental Toxicity Screening Test (OECD 422), the substance has been self-classified for specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure as STOT RE Category 2 (H373), according to Regulation EC No 1272/2008. Therefore the substance fulfils the criteria of toxic (T).

The substance does not have B or vB properties as the low Kow is 2.8. Moreover, EpiWIN predicts a BCF of 7.3 which is clearly below 2000. This confirms that the substance has no potential for significant bioaccumulation and does not need to be defined as “B” or “vB”.

In conclusion, the substance does not fulfil all criteria for PBT or vPvB according to Annex XIII of Regulation EC No. 1907/2006.
