Description of key information

Flammable properties reported from a GLP guideline study: not highly flammable (Ciric, 2015)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Pyrophoricity:

In the daily use and handling of Tetradecylamine during which continuous exposure to air can occur, no spontaneous ignition is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that Tetradecylamine has pyrophoric properties.

Flammability in contact with water:

Under conditions where Tetradecylamine is in contact with water no ignition and/or liberation of flammable gases is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that Tetradecylamine is flammable in contact with water.

Flammability:

In a GLP-compliant study conducted in accordance with EU Method A.10 and UN Test N.1, Tetradecylamine was demonstrated to be 'not highly flammable' (preliminary screening test). This value is considered reliable without restriction (Klimisch 1) .

Justification for classification or non-classification

Tetradecylamine is not flammable in contact with air, water or upon ignition. As a result, Tetradecylamine is regarded as non flammable and no classification is required.
