Additional information

The distributionin a sewage treatment plant (STP) has been estimated using the SimpleTreat model (implemented in EUSES 2.1.2/Chesar 3.5), see table below. Due to the very rapid/rapid hydrolysis of triethoxy(3-isocyanatopropyl)silane and its intermediate hydrolysis product, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane,the distribution calculation is done for the final silanol hydrolysis product (3-aminopropylsilanetriol).

Table. Distribution modelling for STP

Triethoxy(3-isocyanatopropyl)silane in contact with water hydrolyses vey rapidly to 3-aminopropylsilanetriol, ethanol and carbon dioxide. 3-Aminopropylsilanetriol is not expected to undergo any significant biodegradation, has low Henry’s Law constant and low log Kow/log Koc. Therefore water is the main compartment to which it is expected to partition.
