Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: Move the person away from the contaminated area to fresh air. Make the affected person rest. If necessary seek medical advice.
Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash with soap and water. Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes). In the case of inflammation (redness, irritation, ...) obtain medical attention.
Eye contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of running water for a prolonged period, (at least 15 minutes) whilst keeping the eyes wide open. Always obtain medical advice immediately, even if there are no symptoms.
Ingestion: NEVER attempt to induce vomiting. Rinse mouth out with water. Do not give anything to drink. Seek medical advice.
Further information: Place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal. Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
- Suitable: All extinguishing agents can be used (water, foam, powders, carbon dioxide, sand )
- Not suitable: None known. If there is a fire close by, use suitable extinguishing agents.
Specific hazards: On heating or during combustion: Toxic vapours are released.
Specific fire fighting methods: Usual methods for dealing with chemical fires. Cool down the containers/equipment exposed to heat with a water spray.
Protection of fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus. Complete protective clothing.
Personal precautions Avoid contact with skin, eyes and respiratory system. If spillage occurs on the public highway, indicate the danger and notify the authorities (police, fire brigade).
- Full protective clothing and equipment should be worn.
Environmental precautions: Contain the spilled material by bunding. Avoid direct discharge into drains.
Accidental release measures
Methods for cleaning up
Avoid formation of dusts.
- Recovery: Recover as much of the product as possible. Collect up with inert material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite. Transfer the product into a spare container: - suitably labelled- for disposal according to local/national Regulations. Then take the emergency containers to an area reserved for subsequent recycling or disposal.
- Cleaning/Decontamination: Wash non-recoverable remainder with large amounts of water. Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.
Disposal Do NOT discharge into drains.
Dispose of all contaminated materials in accordance with current regulations. Place in an appropriate container and dispose of the contaminated material at a licensed site.

Storage:
Technical Measures: Take all necessary precautions to avoid the accidental release of the product due to the rupture of containers or transfer systems. Ensure there is a suitable retention system. Storage facilities should be dry.
Storage conditions:
Recommended: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
Incompatible products: Oxidising agents and oxidising materials. Strong bases
Packaging materials recommended: Plastic materials (polyethylene, polypropylene) - high density.
Keep in original containers.
Not suitable: Metals.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering Measures: Provide adequate ventilation. Facilities and equipment easily cleanable.
Control Parameters: Exposure Limit Values (Human Health) Limits (UK): No specific limits.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):-
Respiratory Protection: Use a respirator with an approved filter if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.
Hand Protection: Protective gloves made of PVC. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN374 derived from it. Observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. In addition, take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the physical protection required, the danger of cuts and abrasion, and the contact time. Gloves should be discarded if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.
Eye Protection: Tightly Fitting Safety Goggles
Skin and Body Protection: Impervious protective clothing, safety footwear. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the substance at the work place.
Selection Criteria: Protective equipment must be chosen according to current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of the protective equipment. Personal protective equipment must be defined after the risk assessment for the workstation.
Collective emergency equipment: Safety shower. Eye wash fountain.
Stability and reactivity
Stability: Stable at ambient temperature and under normal conditions of use.
Hazardous reactions: None known
Materials to avoid: oxidising agents; strong bases
Hazardous decomposition products: On combustion or on thermal decomposition releases carbon oxides. Corrosive vapours (CO + CO2) (phosphorus oxides) and unburned hydrocarbons (smoke)
Disposal considerations
Residues from Product
Prohibition: Do not discharge waste into drains.
Destruction/Disposal: Take all necessary precautions when disposing of this substance. Dispose of in accordance with relevant local regulations. Dispose of at a licensed waste collection point.
Contaminated Packaging
Decontamination/cleaning: Empty the packaging completely prior to disposal.
Destruction/Disposal: Recycle following cleaning or dispose of at an authorised site.
