Description of key information

2-propylheptyl methacrylate is not readily biodegradable in accordence to OECD guideline (failing the 10 - day window) but biodegradable (60-70% after 28 d). Further the water solubility of the test substance is very low 0.48 mg/L at 20°C).

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of the REACH Regulation 1907/2006/EC, Annex VIII section 9.2.2.1, a study on hydrolysis does not need to be conducted as 2-propylheptyl methacrylate is not readily biodegradable in accordence to OECD guideline (failing the 10 - day window) but biodegradable (60-70% after 28 d). Further the water solubility of the test substance is very low 0.48 mg/L at 20°C). Hence, this is not a required endpoint.
