Description of key information

The explosivity of the test substance, FRET 08-0338, was assessed according to EU Method A.14 using a prediction method. From the assessment of the chemical structure it was established that the test substance would not have explosive properties.

non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Explosive properties are associated with the presence of certain chemical groups in a molecule which can react to produce very rapid increases in temperature or pressure. The screening procedure is aimed at identifying the presence of such reactive groups and the potential for rapid energy release. It therefore follows that if there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the substance, it does not need to be classified for explosive properties.

The structure of the test substance was therefore assessed for chemical groups that imply explosive properties, such groups include C-C unsaturated, C-metal, N-metal, contiguous oxygen atoms, contiguous nitrogen atoms, N-halogens, O-halogens and N-O.

There are no structural alerts within the chemical structure of the test substance and therefore the explosive properties can be predicted as negative.
