Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Dodecylamine (CAS 124-22-1): The 2-h EC50 for inhibtion of nitrification is < 1 mg/L; the 2-h EC100 is 50 mg/L.
Copper phthalocyanine monosulfonic acid (28901-96-4): The 3-h EC10 for respiration inhibition is >1000 mg/L.

Additional information

There are no data on the toxicity to microorganisms available for the Pigment Additive FNC (CAS 73455 -75 -1). Therefore a read-across aproach was performed to the substances components Cu-phthalocyanine monosulfonic acid (CAS 28901 -96 -4) as well as the amine dodecylamine (CAS 124 -22 -1).

The toxicity of the Pigment Additive Cu-phthalocyanine monosulfonic acid was studied in an activated sludge respiration inhibition test according to OECD 209 and under the conditions of GLP. The test used activated sludge from an STP treating predominantly municipal sewage. After 180 minutes of exposure no significant effects were observed in alltest concentrations up to the highest level of 1000 mg/L. Therefore, the 180 -min EC10 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L (BASF SE, project no. 08G0146/14G034).

Regarding dodecylamine (CAS 124 -22 -1) results are published on the toxic effect on nitrifying bacteria (Nitrosomonas sp. and Nitrobacter sp.) by Hockenbury & Grady (1977). Three concentrations were tested (no geometric series; 100, 50, 1 mg/L). After 2 h of exposure, the EC50 was determined to be below 1 mg/L. At 1 mg/L an inhibition of the nitrifying ability of 66% was observed. The 2 -h EC100 was determined to be 50 mg/L
