For potassium tetrafluoroborate the base set data are available, including a growth inhibition study with Pseudomonas putida.

A guideline study for short-term toxicity is available for freshwater fish. The critical effect concentration is a 96-h LC50 value of 760 mg/L in golden orfe (Leuciscus idus).

A guideline study for short-term toxicity is available for aquatic invertebrates. The critical effect concentration is a 48-h EC50 value of >100 mg/L in the water flea (Daphnia magna).

A guideline study is available for toxicity in alga (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata). The critical effect concentration is a 72-h EC50 of >100 mg/L for both growth rate and biomass. The NOEC is 100 mg/L for both parameters.

Data on the long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates is available from a guideline study with the KBF4 chemical analogue NaBF4. From this study the critical effect concentration is a 21 -d NOEC for reproduction of 188 mg/L. No long-term toxicity data are available for fish.

A microorganism growth inhibition study is available with Pseudomonas putida. The critical effect concentration is a 18-h EC50 value of 550 mg/L.
