Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There are no reliable toxicity data for sediment-dwelling organisms relating to HMBDA. A waiver is applied for this endpoint as the substance has low solubility, low potential for adsorption to sediment and minimal exposure.

Additional information

There are no reliable toxicity data for sediment-dwelling organisms relating to HMBDA. A waiver is applied for this endpoint as the substance has low solubility, low potential for adsorption to sediment and minimal exposure.

In accordance with REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Annex X, Column 2, studies of the effects on sediment organisms need not be conducted if exposure assessment indicates no concern for exposure to that environmental compartments. It is proposed that testing is waived as there is minimal exposure as substance is an intermediate manufactured and utilized only at one location in the EU. Additionally, the substance has low solubility, making testing difficult, and not expected to adsorb to sediment or soil as the log kow is low (0.465). Therefore no further testing is needed.
