Propylene carbonate is readily biodegradable. Due to this property and the low octanol water partition coëfficient (log Pow=-0.41), the substance is not expected to bioaccumulate or cause secondary poisoning.
Two reliable (Klimisch 1) studies were available. Based on the key study of Belarde (2004), the substance can be classified as readily biodegradable under the conditions of the test
