A key study was provided according to EC A14 method with regard to influence of a flame and shock.
Despite the substance HMD is a mass crystallised solid at ambient temperature, it is intended to be handled and used always in liquid form at around 80°C. Therefore, testing with regard to friction was judged unnecessary.
No chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule, therefore the acceptance procedure for Class 1 explosives shall not apply.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on experimental testing, hexamethylene diamine is not classified as explosive with regard to heat or shock, according to Directive 67/548/EEC criteria.
Based on chemical structure, hexamethylene diamine is not considered as a potential explosive, according to Regulation N°1272/2008 criteria.
