Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information - workers

The most relevant routes of exposure for workers are the dermal and inhalation routes.

Based on the available acute toxicity data magnesium hydroxide is not acutely toxic and therefore the derivation of a DNELlong-term will be sufficient to control potential risks associated with short-term exposures. In addition, based on the available data magnesium hydroxide is not irritating to skin and eyes and is not a skin sensitiser. It is also unlikely to be a respiratory irritant or sensitiser. Magnesium hydroxide based on the available data does not appear to elicit local toxicity effects.

Based on the available acute toxicity data magnesium hydroxide is not acutely toxic and therefore the derivation of a DNEL long-term will be sufficient to control potential risks associated with short-term exposures. In addition, based on the available data magnesium hydroxide is not irritating to skin and eyes and is not a skin sensitizer. It is also unlikely to be a respiratory irritant or sensitizer. Magnesium hydroxide based on the available data does not appear to elicit local toxicity effects. Therefore, a derivation of a DNEL for local effects is not considered necessary.
