There is available information about effects on plants from a study carried out on lettuce, in greenhouse, in 1992, showing no difference in seedling, emergence and biomass yield, when compared to a standard fertiliser.
Since that, the unique use of it as a fertiliser has been made successfully on different types of cultures.
Therefore, the effects on different terrestrial organisms (earthworms and microorganisms) were assessed according to OECD 207, 216 and 217 testing guidelines.
In short-term toxicity test with earthworms (OECD 207 testing guideline), no adverse effects were observed. Similarly, no long-term adverse effects were also observed on soil microorganisms mineralizing nitrogen and carbon in tests performed according to OECD 216 and 217 testing guideline.
In this last study, the induced respiration of microorganisms was significantly increased for every test item treatment soon after the treatment application and onwards.
