Description of key information

The data for Ashes (residues), plant (EC: 297-049-5) for  terrestrial ecotoxicity was predicted using read across approach, based upon the similarity of substances (composition), test results (matching), same classification and the same production technology and consecutive usage, from source chemical Ashes from fluidized bed combustion coal fired power stations with and without co-combustion of secondary fuels (biomass; other fuels – to be verified in view of ecotoxicological and toxicological tests, EC: 931-257-5) to target chemical Ashes (residues), plant (EC: 297-049-5) with the following results

Toxicity to soil macroorganisms except arthropods:

  • 14-day NOECmortality = 66.7 g/kg soil d. w. (Eisenia fetida)

Toxicity to terrestrial plants:

  • 15-day EC50growth rate = 66.7 - 142.9 g/kg soil dw (Brassica napus)

  • 15-day EC50growth rate > 66.7 g/kg soil dw (Avena sativa)

Toxicity to soil microorganisms:

  • 3h EC50dehydrogenase activity = 32.3 - 66.7 g/kg soil dw (Arthrobacter globiformis)
