Description of key information

Two key studies have been identified to assess the short-term toxicity of allyl alcohol to freshwater algae. Both studies followed the OECD guideline 201 and were GLP-compliant.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
5.38 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.93 mg/L

Additional information

The results of the algal inhibition tests correlate well with each other; 72h ErC50 values obtained from each study (5.38 and 9.25 mg/l) supports the conclusion that allyl alcohol is toxic to freshwater algae. NOECs were also derived in each study at 0.93 and 1.4 mg/l, respectively.
