Sulfonic acids, C14-16 (even numbered)-alkane hydroxy and C14-16 (even numbered)-alkene, sodium salts are readily biodegradable and stable to hydrolysis.

According to REACh legislation, Annex VIII, 9.2, column 2, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable and according to SIDS (2007), α-olefin sulfonates including the registered substance Sulfonic acids, C14-16 (even numbered)-alkane hydroxy and C14-16 (even numbered)-alkene, sodium saltsare stable to hydrolysis even at extreme pH values.
