Description of key information

The 24 hour LC50 value of tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol in fish (Oryzias latipes) was found to be 5.6 mg/L (ppm). But the BCF value of tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol reported was not >= 500 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable. Thus considering the CLP criteria for aquatic classification of the substance, it can be assumed to be in the classification of aquatic chronic 2 category as per the CLP regulation.

Additional information

Supporting study of tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol also indicates that the test substance does exhibit short term toxicity to fish as per the C & L criteria set by EU.
