No significant exposure of the terrestrial environment to sodium percarbonate is expected from its identified uses. Moreover, the substance is unstable under environmental conditions and rapidly dissociates into hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate in contact with soil or organic matter. Hydrogen peroxide rapidly decomposes in soil and in contact with organic matter (European Commission 2003). Sodium carbonate widely occurs in natural soils. It is deemed not necessary to investigate the toxicity of sodium percarbonate to terrestrial organisms.
