Additional information

Due to its ready biodegradability, hydrolysis is not expected to be a relevant degradation pathway for methyl octanoate (CAS No. 111-11-5). The vapour pressure reported for this substance (71.9 Pa at 25 ºC) indicates its potential for volatilization into air. Nevertheless, methyl octanoate is susceptible to undergo indirect photodegradation in air (by reaction with OH-radicals), with an estimated half-life of 51 hours (AOPWIN v1.92).
