n-Butyl acetate will hydrolyze slowly.

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the study does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable (OECD 301 D: 83% in 20 d, 10-d window met; Waggy et al., 1994).

The hydrolytic half-life of n-butyl acetate was estimated using the software HYDROWIN v2.00. HYDROWIN is a scientifically accepted calculation method, n-butyl acetate is within its applicability domain. According to the base-catalyzed rate constant, n-butyl acetate has an estimated half-life of 2 years at pH 7 and 78 d at pH 8. Based on these data, n-butyl acetate will hydrolyze slowly under environmental conditions.
