Description of key information

The potential for bioaccumulation of the substance is solely driven by lipophilicity as the substance is not surface active or ionisable at environmental pH (pH 4 – 9). Thus, this endpoint can be waived on the basis of low octanol-water partition coefficient. Based on the low log Kow of the substance, NMMO is not expected to have any potential for bioaccumulation. This was confirmed by a study of Lackner (1991), in which a BCF of < 10 L/kg ww was obtained for rainbow trout and zebra mussel (no NMMO detected in whole organisms/tissues).
